Guides / Jump Guard Cost
How Much Does a Koi Jump Guard Cost?
Individual posts start at £49.95 and glass is priced by area, so most complete jump guard kits work out somewhere between a few hundred pounds for a small pond and roughly a thousand pounds or more for a large one. The worked example further down comes to £845.80 including glass and delivery for a 3m x 2m pond. Your own figure depends mainly on how much pond edge you are guarding and how many corners it has.
Current post prices
All posts are 316 marine grade stainless steel with a 42.4mm tube. Prices are per post and are the same prices used in the shop and the designer.
| Post | End post | Mid post | Corner post |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat cap, standard D clamp | £49.95 | £52.95 | £52.95 |
| Semi-domed cap, standard D clamp | £52.95 | £55.95 | £55.95 |
| Multi-grooved cap, standard D clamp | £53.95 | £57.95 | £57.95 |
| Sleeve fit | £60.00 | £65.00 | £65.00 |
EdgeMount Base Fix posts, which sit on the pond edge rather than behind it, are £59.80 each in square or oval, black or silver.
How the glass is priced
Toughened glass panels are cut to size for each gap between posts, so the cost is based on total area rather than a per panel price. Panels are 245mm tall as standard, and the width of each panel is the gap between post centres less an allowance for the clamps. Standard D clamps need a larger gap allowance than sleeve fit clamps, which is why the glass area changes slightly with the clamp you choose.
Very small glass orders are subject to a minimum charge, so it is usually more economical to order all of your glass in one go rather than a panel at a time.
Worked example: a 3m x 2m pond
A rectangular pond measuring 3000mm x 2000mm, guarded on all four sides at 1500mm spacing, needs four corner posts and four mid posts, with eight glass panels. Using flat cap posts with standard D clamps and 10mm toughened glass:
| Item | Detail | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Corner posts | 4 at £52.95 | £211.80 |
| Mid posts | 4 at £52.95 | £211.80 |
| 10mm toughened glass | 8 panels, 2.28 sq m in total | £407.20 |
| Post delivery | 8 posts | £15.00 |
| Total | Complete kit for a 3m x 2m pond | £845.80 |
Change the cap style to multi-grooved and the same eight posts come to £463.60 instead of £423.60. Choose sleeve fit posts and they come to £520.00. Those differences are worth knowing before you settle on a look.
Working out your own requirement
If you would rather not do the arithmetic, the Pond Guard Designer does all of it. You enter your pond dimensions and shape, choose a cap style, clamp type and glass thickness, and it works out the post count by role, the glass panel sizes and the delivery charge, then gives you a total you can save as a PDF or email to yourself.
To sketch it out by hand instead: measure each straight run of pond edge you want guarded, divide each run by 1.5m and round up to get the number of panels on that run, then count one post at each end of a run and one at every panel join. Every change of direction becomes a corner post. Wider spacing can be chosen where you need to clear a feature such as an infinity window; above 2200mm consider 12mm glass, and all final measurements are confirmed with you before anything is made.
What the price does not include
We manufacture and supply the components by mail order across the UK. We do not carry out installation, so there is no fitting charge to budget for, but you will need the basic tools and fixings for your surface. Most customers fit the system themselves using the step by step installation guide, or ask their own pond builder to fit it.
