Pond Jump Guards
Koi Jump Guards supplies stainless steel and toughened glass pond jump guard systems for ponds throughout the UK. Standard D Clamp Posts and Sleeve Fit Posts use 316 marine grade stainless steel and the glass is cut to suit your own pond, so the guard follows the shape of the pond edge rather than a fixed kit size.
You can price a complete system yourself in the Pond Guard Designer, or order individual posts, clamps and components from the shop. We supply the components for you or your installer to fit.

What is a pond jump guard?
A pond jump guard is a low glass barrier fixed around the pond edge. Slim stainless steel posts are fixed to the edge or coping and toughened glass panels are clamped between them, forming a barrier that helps reduce jumping risk and may make pond-edge access harder for herons. It cannot guarantee against every jump or predator; results depend on height, water level, gaps and layout.
Most of our customers use them around koi ponds and ornamental ponds where an unobtrusive glass barrier is preferred to netting over the water. It is not a certified child safety barrier or a fall protection system and should not be treated as one.
Glass pond jump guards
The reason most people choose glass pond jump guards is the view. Clear toughened glass keeps the water and the fish fully visible from every angle, and the pond still reads as a pond rather than something covered over. From a normal viewing distance the posts are the only part you really notice.
Panels are 10mm toughened safety glass, cut to the sizes worked out for your layout, with the glass priced for your measured layout. A 12mm option is also available; Andy must verify compatible rubber inserts for the selected clamps and confirm final glass sizes before manufacture.
Stainless steel posts and components
Standard D Clamp Posts and Sleeve Fit Posts are made from 316 marine grade stainless steel, which is the grade normally specified for wet conditions. These are supplied as end, mid and corner posts. Separate EdgeMount Base Fix and CentreFix products use Duplex 2205; check their own Shop specifications. Heights above 350mm need bespoke review.

Designed to suit different pond shapes
Rectangular ponds are straightforward, but plenty of ponds are not. The system can be configured for L shapes, returns, bays and viewing windows, with corner posts wherever the run changes direction. The Pond Guard Designer takes your measurements and works out the post positions, spacing and glass sizes for the layout you draw.
If your pond does not fit the standard options, send a sketch with your measurements and we will quote the bespoke parts, such as non-standard post heights or unusual fixing surfaces, individually.
How to order
1. Measure the pond
Take the length of each side of the pond edge you want to guard, along with any corners or returns.
2. Design the layout
Enter those measurements into the Pond Guard Designer. It works out post positions, spacing and glass panel sizes for you.
3. Choose posts and glass
Pick your cap style, clamp type and glass, or order individual posts and components from the shop.
4. Order for delivery
Everything is made to order and sent out by mail order. Posts and glass are delivered separately because of the way toughened panels have to be handled.
Pond jump guard cost
What a system costs comes down to how much pond edge you are guarding: the size and shape of the pond, the number of posts and how many of those are corner posts, the glass dimensions, and the configuration you choose. The designer gives you an itemised figure for your own measurements.

Seeing how other pond owners have set their guards out is usually the quickest way to settle on a layout. The ideas guide goes through real customer installations, and the gallery has more photographs of finished ponds.

Alternatives to pond netting
Netting works, and for some ponds it remains the sensible choice, particularly where leaf fall is heavy or the cover needs to come off and on. Where pond owners move to glass it is usually because they want the pond to stay visually open and want to stop lifting a net every time they feed or test the water.
